Thus, we analyzed the consequences of disrupting the function of ASIC2 subunits in mice exposed to addictive substances. In Asic2 knockout mice, conditioned place preference for both cocaine and morphine was enhanced, mirroring the findings in Asic1a knockout mice. Given the nucleus accumbens core (NAcc)'s critical role in ASIC1A activity, we investigated the expression levels of ASIC2 subunits within this region. The practice of health-protective behaviors is vital in curbing the transmission of COVID-19, particularly among university students, who often live and study in close proximity to one another in large groups. Students' motivations to follow health advice are frequently affected by the presence of depression and anxiety. Zambian university students were subjects in a cross-sectional, online survey for the study. COVID-19 vaccination views were explored through semi-structured interviews, offered to all participants. Directed to an online survey were students who self-reported a low mood over the past two weeks, after receiving invitation emails clarifying the study's purposes. Strategies to prevent COVID-19, self-efficacy related to COVID-19 management, and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale were incorporated into the measures.
